There have been suggestions made to organize responses from clowns to the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico which includes visits to critical areas by clown groups or contributions as clown groups to the relief effort.

Efforts such as this have been recently carried out in Sri Lanka, Afganistan, and also included successful clown team visits to Ground Zero shortly after 9/11 (http://www.hospitalclown.com see archives)
