On Januat 27, I went in for major shoulder surgery. The operation was 3 hours long and the recuperation will take six months. For now, I cannot clown - in fact, I can't use my left arm for six weeks (so am typing with one finger on my right hand)!

BUT, none of this stopped Johnny Sunshine from wearing a red foam nose into surgery! I had nurses coming in from all over the hospital to see this clown who was going into surgery! Several said this was one operation they would always remember.

So, clowns, even when YOU are the patient, take your nose and your smile with you! It goes a long eways!

Thanks for writing Johnny. Glad to hear you are on the mend.

I did the same thing, along with my surgeon who also wore one. Only mine was on my pee pee ( not the nose...the operation).

At the hospitals, we often give the more playful patients noses when they are headed to surgery, and dare them to wear it into pre-op. We get some delightful stories back from the staff.

Thanks for giving us all another nice idea.

hugs,

Arne

Hi Johnny,

That is so you. Wonderful story. All the best.

Arnie, the image of the clown nose on your --- is hysterical.

Both of you guys are terrific.

I wore my clown nose to an appointment with a plastic surgeon and he took me around to everyone saying "You should have see this patient before her nose job!"
Smile
