Never having twisted a balloon, I purchased a balloon gift set (balloons, pump, how to book) from Clown Antics for about $20.00.

Without much practise, I brought the ballons and pump to the nursing home today.Simple balloon hats are a no brainer. I wore my 1st creation.

Upon arrving at the nursing home, two attendants were wheeling a resident on a gurney to a waiting ambulance. We smiled at one another and I ran over to transfer the balloon hat from my head to his head. He gave me the thumbs up signal as he disappeared into the ambulance.

For the next hour and a half, I could not leave the first floor hallway by the nurses station. Even some of the nurses wanted balloon hats; they looked festive sitting at the nurses' station wearing the creations. I went through at least half of my bag of balloons.

I am not a balloon twister. I can only make SIMPLE hats. The residents loved it. They got a lttle special attention. They picked their own colors and compared styles; a lot of interaction was sparked. It was something different that brightened the day.

"Jumping in" worked just fine.

If I could find latex free balloons that can be twisted, I'd bring them to the childrens' hospital. Has anyone heard of them?
